We Bring Equity To Tourism

AltruVistas Journeys are fundamentally about transformation—for both our travelers and our host partners. We honor our in-country collaborators as equal partners. There’s a power to being locally hosted and sharing in real-life experiences, versus a conventional tourism experience that only glosses the surface. The people we meet with share their own stories, successes, struggles, resiliency, and realities. On every customized journey, travelers exchange with local nonprofit leaders, artists and musicians, farmers, entrepreneurs, academics, and beyond, while exploring the unique beauty, biodiversity, and history of each place.

We’re also keenly aware of the economic imbalances in the trillion-dollar travel industry. We pledge to redress conventional tourism’s capital flight and leakage problem by funneling on average 70% of all tourism dollars into local economies. We choose local accommodations, services, and guides wherever and whenever possible. We know from experience that travel doesn’t have to be extractive—it can be regenerative.
