A clear path from application to lasting impact.

The annual process combines careful selection, community capital, paid professional support, and measurable long-term guidance.

How the process works.

  1. 01

    Application and vetting

Community ventures, organizations, and cooperatives are reviewed for local leadership, feasibility, and potential community benefit.

  2. 02

    Community-informed selection

Qualified projects move through the Foundation’s review and selection process for the current funding cycle.

  3. 03

    Funding and fellowship match

Selected grantees receive AltruFunds support and are paired with a paid AltruFellow when appropriate.

  4. 04

    Implementation and visibility

The grantee and fellow build practical systems while AltruVistas helps connect the enterprise with relevant tourism networks.

  5. 05

    Reporting and long-term guidance

Grantees report measurable economic and social impact and may receive guidance for up to five years.

Support beyond the award.

Entrepreneurial mentoring

Advisory support helps grantees make sound operational and strategic decisions.

Operational readiness

Accounting, booking, digital, marketing, and customer-service capabilities are developed with local teams.

Industry connections

Appropriate tourism associations and travel partners are introduced to the grantee’s service or product.

Impact reporting

Annual reporting tracks community participation and the economic and social value created.

Built to become a replicable model.

The long-term aim is bigger than a single award: demonstrate how travel businesses and destination communities can form true partnerships, retain more value locally, and create a model other organizations can adapt.

Help communities build lasting value from tourism.

Your support strengthens locally owned enterprises and the people building them.
