Bringing equity to tourism since 2013.

AltruVistas grew from a simple conviction: travel can deepen understanding and move meaningful financial value toward the communities that host it.

Malia Everette, founder of AltruVistas

A journey built from experience.

After years of creating educational exchanges around the world, founder Malia Everette saw travel’s capacity to build intercultural understanding, peaceful dialogue, personal transformation, and greater agency.

She also saw how often the financial value of tourism left the communities that made travel possible. AltruVistas was launched in 2013 to connect those two realities: meaningful learning for travelers and greater equity for host communities.

Malia previously directed Global Exchange Reality Tours and has designed programs across dozens of destinations. Her work as an educator, writer, and speaker continues to shape AltruVistas’ approach.

From a supply chain to a supply web.

Tourism is often described as a chain, but responsible travel depends on a web of relationships: local guides, hosts, educators, artists, drivers, organizers, businesses, and community leaders.

AltruVistas designs with that web in mind. It is how a journey becomes more culturally grounded, more economically connected, and more capable of creating lasting relationships.

AltruVistas Thundering Grace symbol

The mark: Thundering Grace.

The AltruVistas symbol is adapted from a Hawaiian expression of Thundering Grace—a crosscurrent of receiving, gratitude, and reciprocity. Developed with artist Victoria Odson, it reflects the exchange at the center of every AltruVistas journey.

Let’s design travel that creates lasting value.
